The PADI Advanced Snorkeler course teaches you how to enjoy watching life below the surface and to safely make breath-hold dives below the surface. Take these skills with you to explore freshwater lakes in cottage country, or to coral reefs in the open ocean on vacation.
The course starts with a detailed briefing that covers snorkelling principles, including equipment, pressure-volume relationships, responsible interaction with aquatic life, equalization, proper breathing for breath-hold diving, proper weighting and safety practices.
During the pool session, you will learn how to assemble and prepare your equipment, breathing through and clearing a snorkel, relaxed breathing on the surface, and how to make a vertical, head-first dive in the water. By the end of the session, you will swim at least 15 meters/50 feet horizontally underwater on a single breath.
To enrol in the PADI Advanced Snorkelling course, you must be at least 8 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and comfort in the water. No prior experience is required.
The Advanced Snorkeler course includes all required rental equipment including mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit. However, students are encouraged to consider the purchase of their own mask and snorkel to ensure the best fit possible. Upon successful completion, students will receive a PADI Advanced Snorkeler (Skin Diver) digital certification card.
